Bio:
Barbara Melvin is senior vice president of External Affairs for the South Carolina Ports Authority. Additionally, she is responsible for the Charleston Harbor Post 45-Foot Deepening and Widening Project and the Jasper Ocean Terminal Project. Previously, she was director of Government Relations for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and formerly served as a policy analyst for the Georgia Governor's Office of Planning and Budget. Melvin is a member of the South Carolina Steering Committee Council of the United States Global Leadership Coalition and serves on the Business Advocacy Committee and the Infrastructure Vision Task Force of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. She received a Congressional appointment to the United States Ports Caucus Advisory Committee and formerly served on the boards for Communities in Schools and the South Carolina Maritime Foundation. Melvin earned her Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in Political Science from Georgia Southern University and completed graduate coursework in Public Administration at Kennesaw State College.
