Anton Gunn is a dynamic keynote speaker, author, and consultant celebrated for his expertise in leadership, workplace culture, crisis management, and leading through change. With a distinguished career spanning public service, healthcare, and organizational leadership, Gunn is a trusted advisor to organizations aiming to build high-performing teams and thriving, people-centered workplace cultures. A former standout football player at the University of South Carolina, where he earned degrees in history and social work, Gunn began his professional journey as a community organizer and nonprofit leader. His passion for public service led to his election to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2008, making him the first African American to represent District 79. During his tenure, he co-sponsored over 200 pieces of legislation, driving impactful change for communities. In 2010, Gunn was appointed by President Barack Obama as the Director of External Affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, he provided critical leadership during the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, successfully engaging stakeholders and ensuring the public understood one of the nation’s most transformative healthcare reforms. Today, as the CEO of 937 Strategy Group, Gunn helps organizations build inclusive, high-performing cultures where employees thrive, and businesses excel. His clients include industry leaders such as T-Mobile, Boeing, KPMG, Pfizer, and Emory Healthcare. Gunn is also an accomplished author of several influential books, including The Audacity of Leadership, The Presidential Principles, and his most recent release, Just Lead. These works provide actionable strategies for leaders to enhance employee engagement, improve retention, and foster thriving workplaces. A respected authority in leadership and governance, Gunn has amassed a wealth of diverse experience that underscores his credibility and impact.
