Bio:
Susie Shannon is the senior public policy counsel of BlueCross BlueShield of SC. Previously, she was the director of research for the Palmetto Institute and an attorney with the McNair Law Firm in Columbia. She has taught law-related classes at Midlands Technical College and the University of South Carolina School of Law as well as presented at continuing legal education seminars. Susie served in the U.S. Army Reserves and participated in the Gulf War. Her community activities include Young Leaders Society and the Public Policy Committee of the United Way of the Midlands. She is a board member of SCANPO and has served on the SC Workforce Innovation Team and on the board of Prevent Child Abuse. Additionally, Susie was instrumental in bringing to South Carolina The Benefit Bank Program and Teach for America. Susie earned her JD cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law and her BS in criminal justice from the University of South Carolina. She lives in Columbia. She is a Fellow of the eighth class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
