Bio:
James Simmons, M.D., started his private practice, All Children's Pediatrics, in 2004. Previously he was Chief of Pediatrics of Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. James serves as a physician member of the Beaufort Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and is the chairman of its Quality Assurance Committee as well as a member of the Board Governance Committee. He also is associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina. James is the founder and medical director of Reach Back and Read Literacy Program, which partners with elementary schools to bring professionals to schools weekly to read to students. He has completed medical missionary work in Kenya and was named the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association Provider of the Year. He also received the Benedict College Club Award of Excellence for Community Service. James earned his MD from the University of Pittsburgh and his BS in biology from Morehouse College. His home is in Beaufort. He is a Fellow of the eighth class of the Liberty Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
