Title and Organization:
Peter Barth is general manager of the Flatiron School at WeWork. Previously, Peter founded The Iron Yard, which operates multiple intensive code schools, startup accelerators, kids programming, electronics classes, and co-working locations throughout the country. Launched in 2011, The Iron Yard is the first start up accelerator of its kind in the southeast and is one of the original members of the Global Accelerator Network. From 2012-2014, The Iron Yard family expanded from Greenville, South Carolina into Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, Durham, NC, and more. Prior to The Iron Yard, Peter got involved with building NEXT, an economic development initiative to support the growing tech ecosystem. In 2009, he co-chair the project to build the NEXT Innovation Center, a 60,000 sqft building to house startups, the Upstate Carolina Angel Network, and NEXT. Peter started his career on Wall Street after Vanderbilt. After time at Duke & Company and then Morgan Stanley he realized that he wanted to build a technology company so he joined SinglePoint in Indianapolis and helped build one of the first fully integrated human capital management platforms on the internet before moving his family to Greenville in 2006. Peter serves as a board member for the Global Accelerator Network and NEXT. He married his college sweetheart and has 5 incredible kids. Peter is a Fellow of the 10th class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
