Bio:
Sonia Domínguez is the Team Lead in USAID/Guatemala for the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). She has been working for USAID for the past 23 years in food security programs and lately in emergency programming. Sonia currently leads the BHA portfolio in Guatemala ensuring the effective contribution of BHA resources in country. She has been part of several Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DARTs) throughout the LAC region: the Venezuela Migration Crisis Response in 2019, the LAC Storms Response in 2020 and the Northern Triangle Response of 2021. Her undergraduate degree is in Organizational Psychology from Universidad Rafael Landívar in Guatemala, and she has two master’s degrees, one in Development from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, and the other in Public Administration from Escuela de Gobierno de Guatemala. Sonia is a fellow of the eight class of the Central American Leadership Initiative from the Aspen Institute, and she is also a Martin J. Foreman Fellow from the Global Health Bureau, Nutrition Division in USAID/Washington. She is married to Juan Carlos Hernández and has two daughters, Fátima (13) and Belén (11).
