Bio:
Fermina Cárdenas is the corporate affairs manager at CASSA GROUP (Salvadorian Sugar Company). Amongst her main responsibilities is the management of the sustainability strategy and the CASSA foundation. In 2010 she was key to the creation of ""Community Allies"" program, whose objective is to build up sustainable sugar cane communities. Cárdenas has participated in the activities of Centro Supérate CASSA since 2008, providing education to young people. Before joining CASSA, she worked in a government program of social prevention of violence in high risk communities which include the reinsertion of gang members into society. Cárdenas also worked as press coordinator during Francisco´s Flores presidency and in important media companies in the country. Fermina Cárdenas has a BA in Journalism from the Universidad Centroamericana José Simeon Cañas and a master's degree in Civil Society Engagement from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. She is a Fellow of the eighth class of the Central America Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
