Bio:
Michelle is a social policy and global development specialist with national and international experience in public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Currently, she is Director of Global Strategy of Oxford Poverty & Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and SOPHIA at the University of Oxford and professor of Social Development, and Social and Political Innovation of the School of Government at ADEN University. She serves as Senior Policy Advisor of The Fourth Sector Group and Leaders on Purpose.
Michelle is former Vice minister and Minister of Social Development of Panama and Technical Coordinator of the Social Cabinet. She also chaired the National Concertation for Development Council, a legally recognized participatory body for social dialogue comprising 23 sectors of society.
She has master’s degrees in Public Administration from Cornell University, Management of Cultural Projects and Heritage from Istituto per l’Arte e il Restauro Palazzo Spinelli, and Commercial Law from Externado University in Colombia. She has a degree in Laws and Political Science from Santa Maria La Antigua University in Panama.
Michelle is fellow of the VIII class of the Central America Leadership Initiative (CALI) and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She lives in Panama with her husband Cesar and their daughter Paloma.
