Bio:
Expert in Luxury Hotels and Sustainable Tourism. For over 25 years he has held strategic and operational executive positions for travel-related organizations in Latin America. In the last few years he has developed a special interest for regenerative approaches to tourism development.
Gustavo graduated in Economics at University of Costa Rica and has an MBA from INCAE Business School (summa cum laude). He is a fellow at the Central American Leadership Initiative, affiliated to the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
Gustavo is currently C.E.O. of Memorable Travel Group, a Destination Management Company with operations in Costa Rica, Belice, Panamá, Guatemala and Colombia. His recent experience includes:
• Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica, July 2020 to November 2021.
• Board of Directors member:

o Inversiones Regenerativas Grupo Esperanza
o Copey Vinícola Wine Tour
• C.E.O. of Pacuare Lodge y Lapa Rios Lodge, members of National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World.
• C.E.O. of Cuestamoras Asset Management division (four hotels, 800 rooms: Marriott Los Sueños, Costa Rica Marriott Hacienda Belén, Andaz Peninsula de Papagayo and Hyatt Pinares).
• C.E.O. of Oxígeno Human Playground, an innovative commercial real estate project.
• C.E.O. of Grupo Islita (Punta Islita – Autograph Collection and El Silencio Lodge – Relais Chateaux)
His tasks as consultant, pro-bono voluntary and Board of Directors member include:
• Board of Directors Vicepresident of the Costa Rica Tourism Board (2010 – 2016)
• Board of Directors Vicepresident of the Costa Rica Hotel Association (2008 – 2010).
• Sports Ambassador for SIFAIS, where he coordinated and executed the construction and launching of Parque de Luz (a sports facility for a social-risk community).
• He has advised Interamerican Development Bank (IADB), the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism of Peru, and the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, on sustainable travel and tourism quality matters.
