Bio:
Nilson Ariel Espino is president of SUMA Architects and Urban Planners, a private firm specializing in urban-scale projects including public-private partnernships and social-environmental components. He was previously executive director of the Office of the Old City, an agency administered through the United Nations Development Program and whose mission is the renovation of the colonial neighborhood of Panama City, a World Heritage Site. He obtained a bachelor's degree in architecture from the Catholic University in Panama, a master's degree in urban planning from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Rice University. He is married and has two sons. He is a Fellow of the third class of the Central America Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
