Bio:
Sylvia Gereda Valenzuela is a renowned journalist, media entrepreneur, and leadership advocate in Guatemala. She is the founder, shareholder, and CEO of Tecnología y Comunicaciones Masivas S.A., as well as CEO of *RelatoGT*, a leading digital news platform, and *StreamGT*, Guatemala’s first online streaming channel. She was the founder and director of *Informe Especial* on Canal Antigua, the country’s first investigative television program, and served as Director of *elPeriódico* from 1996 to 2011. Sylvia founded Guatemala’s most influential Investigative Journalism Team, recognized for exposing corruption and shaping public accountability. Her investigations have prompted legal actions and institutional reforms. In 2004, she was named an Honorable Citizen by President Óscar Berger and invited to join the National Council Against Corruption to help promote transparency legislation. She also created *Switch* magazine to train young leaders, a project that was a finalist for the John P. McNulty Prize. Sylvia is deeply committed to empowering future leaders and journalists. She founded and trained a national network of more than 380 rural and Indigenous journalists in investigative journalism and ethics. She currently serves as moderator of *Lideremos Colombia 2050*, an initiative of the Aspen Institute Colombia, and is the founder and moderator of *Lideremos Guatemala*, part of the Central American Leadership Initiative (CALI), focused on developing ethical, committed leaders from diverse backgrounds in Guatemala. Additionally, Sylvia is Director of the Guatemalan Chamber of Journalists and serves as a political analyst on *Destino 2025*, a television program on Canal Antigua, where she leads interviews and provides analysis on national and international affairs. Through all her platforms, Sylvia continues to elevate transparency, leadership, and dialogue in Guatemala and across Latin America.
