Bio:
Rolando Kattan is a poet, bibliophile, editor and cultural activist. He has published five poetry books and received honorable mention at the Ruben Dario Poetry Award. His work has been partially translated into French, English, Italian and Arabic and has been considered in many magazines and anthologies published in America, Europe and Asia. Recently he was accepted as a member of the Academia Hondureña de la Lengua. He is currently president of the Comité Iberoamericano de Poesía Juegos Florales de Tegucigalpa and the Comité Promonumentos Juan Ramón Molina. He is also member of the Board of Directors of The Museo del Hombre Honudreño. Rolando is host of the national television talk show Economia y Cultura. He was the founder and co-editor of the project Leer es Fiesta, which consisted in the free massive distribution of one million books. He also co-founded one of the most relevant cultural projects of the beginning of the 20th century in Honduras, PaisPoesible. Rolando owns the most important collection of Honduran literary and history books of Honduras, and recently founded the itinerant museum Honduras Ex-Libris, based on his collection. In 2011, he received the Premio al Voluntariado Cultural collectively awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, the Embassy of Spain in Honduras, the Volunteer Program of the United Nations, and United Nations Developmental Program. Aside from his main role as poet and cultural activist, he is a consultant to the Secretary of State in the Finance Office where he focuses on improving public administration performance related to programs run by the World Bank, IDB and IMF. Also Rolando has worked for Promerica Financial Group for the last fourteen years, responsible for Information s Security Office for the banks members in nine countries.
