Bio:
Melanie Napoleon Welch is director of the American Library Association's Public Programs Office. Melanie has nearly 25 years of nonprofit programs and management experience, specifically in associations, environmental organizations and museums, with expertise in grant-making, strategic planning, community engagement, grant-writing, informal education, conservation, STEM, humanities and other programs, and Great Lakes ecology and regional issues. She received a B.S. degree in environmental biology from Bradley University and a M.S. degree in biology from Northern Illinois University. Melanie founded the Great Lakes Conservation department at John G. Shedd Aquarium and is member of the 2010 class of Catto Fellows, an environmental leadership program at The Aspen Institute
