Bio:
Shelley Levin Billik is chief strategy officer at her firm EcoBiz, where she consults to businesses and organizations on their sustainability goals. She is also consulting to various bidders on the City of Los Angeles' recycling and composting initiatives beginning in 2017. Before EcoBiz, Shelley was vice president of environmental initiatives at Warner Bros. Studios, where for 18 years she created a comprehensive environmental strategy and sustainability department with a staff of 11. Shelley spearheaded several groundbreaking and complex initiatives, including the first LEED Silver-certified building in the entertainment industry, the first LEED Gold soundstage in the world, and the first photovoltaic/solar installation in the industry, which would later produce an additional 500 kilowatts and to this day is the largest in the entertainment industry. Before that, she worked at an environmental engineering firm, supporting projects focused on Assembly Bill 939, California's waste reduction laws that were passed in 1989. She is a Mexico City native who was raised on an agricultural kibbutz in Israel and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She pursued a liberal arts education at University of California at Berkeley and at Santa Cruz, studying music and philosophy and graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in psychology. Shelley loves to travel, sail, and scuba dive, is a musician, and loves to grow in her organic garden. She is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Catto Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
