Bio:
Bruce Ovbiagele is the chief of staff for the San Francisco VA Healthcare System. Previously, Bruce was Admiral Pihl Professor and Chairman of the Department of Neurology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). His former experience includes Professor of Neurosciences & Director of the San Diego VA Stroke Program - University of California-San Diego and Associate Professor of Neurology & Director of the Stroke PROTECT Program at University of California-Los Angeles. Bruce is Chair of Outcomes Research Working Group, a member of World Federation of Neurology and the American Heart Association Science Advisory & Coordinating Committee. He also serves on the FDA Peripheral and Central Nervous System Drugs Advisory Committee. He received the American Academy of Neurology Michael Pessin Stroke Research Leadership Award and is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and American Academy of Neurology. Bruce earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Lagos and his Master of Science in Clinical Research and Master of Advanced Studies in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations from the University of California Los Angeles. Bruce is a Fellow of the 11th class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
