Debbie Simon began her nursing career with Methodist Medical Center in 1976 and has served in executive leadership roles within the hospital since 1978 with most recent years served as Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer. In December 2011, when Methodist joined the now UnityPoint Health system , Debbie was appointed President and CEO of Unity Point Health – Methodist; and in 2013 was also named President and CEO of UnityPoint Health – Proctor. In January 2017 UnityPoint Health will again expand and Debbie will assume the CEO of UnityPoint Health Pekin. Under Debbie’s Leadership, UPH has developed a regional network of physician and health services and created a strong health system to serve Central Illinois. Having earned her BSN from the University of Illinois, Debbie went on to receive an MBA from Bradley University. She is a Wharton Nurse Executive Fellow. Debbie is actively involved in the community, having served on a number of community boards in both Peoria and Pekin. Currently, Debbie serves on the CEO Council, Greater Peoria Economic Development Council (GPEDC), Peoria Promise Advisory Board, the Advisory Board for Bradley University Foster College of Business, and Wildlife Prairie Park Board and their Executive Committee. Debbie also served as co-chair for the 2015 Heart of Illinois United Way Pacesetters campaign.She participates in numerous professional organizations and is a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, Illinois. She and her husband, Rick, have one son, David. She is a 1997 Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. The above info represents my career history. I recently retired in June 2019 and have greatly enjoyed this new chapter of my life. I am considering executive coaching for women and teaching at some point in the future, but for now plan to enjoy the freedom retirement brings and all the things I have put off for so many years.
