Title and Organization:
Phil Harris is vice president and general counsel for Northwestern University. Formerly, Phil was a partner with Jenner & Block LLP in Chicago, where he served on the management committee. His practice focused on the defense of mass tort, product liability and complex commercial litigation. He is a member of the Illinois, Chicago and Iowa State Bar Associations. He is also an elected member of the American Law Institute. Phil served as a Trustee of Northwestern University in various roles, including as a vice chair and member of the Executive Committee, from 1990-2015. He currently serves on the board of Mather LifeWays. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1980 with a BA in political science and in 1983 earned a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Chicago Law School. He also a Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago and is a 1997 Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
