Jack Giraudo is the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA) Inc. The company is the largest ocean carrier in the world. Previously, he was the chief ethics and compliance officer of Olin Corporation, a leader in the chemical industry. He previously was the chief compliance officer of Tessera Technologies, Inc., a high-tech public company in Silicon Valley, and of the AES Corporation, a Fortune 500 energy company. Prior to these appointments he lived a decade in Asia, first as a senior lawyer with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Beijing, and subsequently as the General Counsel of a multinational joint venture led by the French conglomerate Vivendi SA based in Hong Kong. At the beginning of his legal career, he clerked for Judge Alfred T. Goodwin of United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and was a lawyer in the Office of Legal Counsel at the United States Justice Department in Washington DC. Jack holds a BA in political science and economics from the University of California, Berkeley, a B.Phil in politics from Oxford University and a JD from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. He is a 1998 Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
