Bio:
John is an angel investor and advisor to education companies. He was previously CEO of Zeal Learning, which provided daily on-demand tutoring to 50,000 k-12 students in hundreds of schools. John sold Zeal in 2018 to The Academy Group. Previously, John was co-Founder and CEO of Rocketship Education, the United States' first blended charter school system. In 1995, John co-founded and was CEO of NetGravity, the first Internet AdServer company. In between, he served as the Chairman of the Charter School Resource Center of Tennessee, was founding director of KIPP Academy Nashville, taught in the Nashville public school system for 3 years, and co-founded Sacred Heart Nativity School in San Jose. John holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Master's Degree in Education Policy from Vanderbilt University. John is an Ashoka Fellow, a 1999 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and the 2010 winner of the Aspen Institute's McNulty Prize for social entrepreneurship.
