From 2017-2018, Buzz has worked at Bowdoin College helping the college to manage its portfolio of endowment investments. Prior to this, during an 18-year career at George Soros’ Soros Fund Management (“SFM”), first as Managing Director (1990-2000) in New York, then as consultant, advisor, and independent fund manager (2000-2008), Buzz managed public and private equity investments across sectors including healthcare, biotech, information technology, telecom, media, and retail, leading investments in and serving on the board of directors of Centene Corp, United States Satellite Broadcasting (a predecessor company to DirecTV), and Washington Soccer L.P. (majority/founding investor), owner of Major League Soccer team D.C. United, as well as other companies. Buzz is CIO of Origin Capital Management, an investment firm he founded in 2000 in San Francisco and which now functions as his family’s investment office. Buzz earned a B.A. degree in Physics from Bowdoin College in 1986. In the past, he mentored and provided financial support to several disadvantaged youths to attend independent catholic high students in connection with the Student Sponsor Partnership, volunteered delivering meals with Project Open Hand in San Francisco, assisted non-profit Year Up in launching its successful Bay Area operation, served in 2014-15 as mentor/advisor to Oxford University’s Lean Launchpad Programme, helped to create The Gateway Bridge and Riverfront Park in his hometown of Houlton, Maine, and has served as an alumni admissions interviewer for Bowdoin College for 20+ years. Buzz is s a 1999 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a Member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
