Bio:
Bill McLaughlin is a purpose driven leader, focused on consumer products.
Most recently he served as President and CEO of the Orvis Company, a Vermont based Fly Fishing and Outdoor company. Bill joined Orvis in 2015.and retired in 2020 after successfully transitioned company leadership to third-generation.
In his previous roles, Bill improved people's lives through better sleep as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Select Comfort Corporation (Sleep Number) from 2000 to 2012... Bill was instrumental in the creation and launch of the Sleep Number brand in 2001, and he led the organization through a successful turnaround in 2009 and 2010.
Prior to joining Select Comfort, Bill served as President of Frito Lay Europe, Middle East and Africa, and was responsible for integrating and accelerating growth in a portfolio of over $2 billion in sales in 17 countries. He also led Frito Lay businesses in Mexico and the Caribbean as well as marketing operations in Brazil.
Bill began his career in marketing in 1981 with the Pillsbury Company. He currently serves as a Director for the Capital Group American Funds and Orion Safety Products,
He received a BA from Dartmouth, and an MBA from Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School, where he met his wife, Martha. They now reside in Minnesota, have three grown daughters and four grandchildren, and a lab.
Bill is a member of the 2001 class of Henry Crown Fellows and the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. He is particularly proud of Minnesota's contribution to the Crown Fellowship.
