Charles Conn is CEO of the Rhodes Trust, the 115-year-old organization that administers the Rhodes Scholarships in Oxford. In this role Charles has led a successful transformation effort, including raising £250m to secure the endowment and fund global expansion, building a large scale convening program, and attracting partnerships with Atlantic Philanthropies, Schmidt Futures, the Schwarzman Foundation and others. He is a Professorial Fellow of Balliol College, Oxford and a Trustee of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation in South Africa. He sits on several company and nonprofit boards, including Patagonia and Arcadia Foundation. Prior to the Rhodes Trust, Charles was Senior Advisor to the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation and a private investor. At the Moore Foundation his conservation projects included the wild salmon ecosystems initiative and the Palmyra atoll research station. Earlier, Charles was a successful technology entrepreneur. He co-founded Citysearch and as CEO led the company through its merger with Ticketmaster, as well as its IPO and acquisitions of Microsoft Sidewalk, Match.com, and other companies. Charles was previously a Partner with McKinsey & Company, and a leader of its growth strategy and energy practices. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School, Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and Boston University. He is a 2001 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
