Bernie Sucher is the CEO of Tikun Olam USA, a JV based on the firm that pioneered Israel’s medical cannabis industry. Bernie is an active investor in a number of start-ups, including Detroit’s Loveland Technologies and Detroit Bikes. He is the non-executive chairman of UFG Asset Management, a Russia-focused investment firm. Bernie co-founded Moscow-based investment bank Troika Dialog, and restructured and relaunched Alfa Capital, one of Russia’s leading asset management firms. His career in finance began in 1984 with EF Hutton in New York and included roles with Cresvale, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, with postings in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Moscow. Among others, he has served as a member of the board of Credit Bank of Moscow and Magnitogorsk Metal and Mining. Beyond finance, Bernie started a number of ventures in Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union, including the Starlite Diner, a Moscow institution. He was long active with the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia and the US-Russia Business Council. He also co-founded the Endowment for the Support of Tarusa Hospital, and served on the boards of Russia’s Dynasty Foundation and the European University of St. Petersburg. An early supporter of Venture for America, he now chairs that non-profit’s chapter in Miami. Bernie holds a BA from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of Columbia University's Senior Executive Program. He and his wife, Fatima, have a son and daughter. The passage of time has not diminished Bernie's enthusiasm for, among other things, Star Trek, the band Rush, and basketball. He is a 2002 Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
