Russell Horowitz is the Founder and Executive Director of Marchex Inc., a leading provider of conversational analytics technologies, based in Seattle. Russ rose to the top of the tech business world as Chairman and CEO, and CFO of Go2Net, Inc., which he co-founded with a high-school friend, from its inception in 1996 until its merger into InfoSpace in July 2000. In March 2006, Russ founded Xanthus Capital, LP, a Seattle, Washington-based merchant bank, for which he served as CEO and director of Xanthus Management, LLC, general partner of Xanthus Capital, LP, and of DMR Investments, LLC, the investment advisor to Xanthus Capital, LP. In 1992, Russ founded Active Apparel Group (now Everlast Worldwide) and served as its Chief Financial Officer until 1995. Russ has served as a member of the Board of Visitors for Columbia College of Columbia University and also served on the board of directors for National Discount Brokers and the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, as a participant and panelist in the 2000 Microsoft CEO Summit, as a member of Vulcan Ventures' Presidents' Council, and on the Governor's Advisory Council on the Internet and Technology for the State of Washington. He received a B.A. in economics from Columbia University in 1988. He and his wife and daughters live in Seattle. Russell is a 2003 Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
