Last Name:
Cummings
Title and Organization:
Founder/President/CEO, HyperVigilant Inc.
Bio:
Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings is a health innovator, public scholar, and social change strategist whose work spans policy, technology, and culture. She is the founder and CEO of HyperVigilant Inc., an AI-powered health technology company on a mission to transform hypertension detection and management—especially for underserved populations. Born from personal experience and professional insight, HyperVigilant leverages advanced diagnostics, behavioral supports, and culturally competent care tools to close persistent gaps in healthcare quality and access. With a Ph.D. in political science and a decades-long career in health policy—including leadership roles on Capitol Hill and at national foundations—Dr. Rockeymoore Cummings has long championed solutions at the intersection of equity and innovation. She previously led a $16 million national initiative for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and has served as a trusted advisor to government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and global institutions. Her forthcoming book, RAGEISM: Racism, Ageism, and the Quest for Liberation Democracy (Routledge), examines how structural injustices embedded in race and age hierarchies erode health, wealth, and democratic participation. More than a diagnosis, it offers a bold prescription for rebuilding society on the principles of justice, inclusion, and collective wellbeing. A dynamic speaker and visionary thinker, Dr. Rockeymoore Cummings is leading a movement to reimagine what health, democracy, and human flourishing can look like—starting with the communities that have historically been left behind.
