Maryana Iskander is Chief Executive Officer of Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit that operates Wikipedia. Prior to this, she spent 10 years as CEO of Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator in South Africa, 6 years as the Chief Operating Officer at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and also served as Adviser to the President of Rice University, and law clerk to Judge Diane P. Wood of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She was also an associate at global consultancy McKinsey & Co., a strategy consultant for W.L. Gore & Associates, and a law clerk at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York, and Vinson & Elkins in Houston. Maryana earned a B.A. from Rice University, a M.Sc. from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and a J.D. from Yale Law School where she was recognized with a Distinguished Alumna Award. In 2019, Maryana received the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the 2006 class of Henry Crown Fellows and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
