Bio:
Susan Hassan is a strategic advisor and investor, with deep experience in helping companies navigate complex business challenges, strategic transactions and corporate governance and regulatory matters. Throughout her career, she has served as a strategic advisor to some of the most notable companies in the financial services, energy, consumer products and technology sectors.
Susan is founder and managing partner at Sea Dune Partners. Previously, she was a partner at Valor Equity Partners, focusing on tech-enabled growth companies in a variety of sectors. In addition to leading firm-wide management and strategic planning, Susan focused on investment prospect generation, structuring and execution. She served on Valor’s investment committee and on the boards of Valor portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Valor, Susan was a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. During her 18-year career with Skadden, she specialized in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and strategic advice matters for Fortune 500, middle-market and emerging growth companies.
Susan has served as an invited lecturer on corporate transactions at Harvard Law School and the University of Chicago Law School. Susan was named one of Investment Dealers’ Digest’s 40 Under 40 and one of Chicago’s 40 Under 40 by Crain’s Chicago Business. In 2009, the Aspen Institute named her a Henry Crown Fellow.
Susan serves on the Board of Directors of CARE, a leading global poverty relief organization, and as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Equality Now, a global women's rights organization. Susan is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and a former board member and current member of The Chicago Network. She has served on the boards of Clean Energy Trust, the Chicago Public Library (appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley) and the Women's Sports Foundation.
Susan received her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. She is fluent in Arabic.
