Carla Vernón is an independent board member, a Trustee of Princeton University and currently the VP of Consumables Categories at Amazon. Widely known for her successful 22-year career at General Mills where Carla led some of the most beloved food brands in America including Annie’s, Nature Valley, Larabar, Lucky Charms, and Cheerios. As a Corporate Officer and President of the General Mills Natural and Organic Operating Unit, Carla executed one of the food industry’s most admired acquisition integrations where she drove growth on brands including Annie’s, EPIC, and Cascadian Farm while propelling them to be environmental sustainability leaders celebrated in Fast Company, Wall Street Journal, PBS, and National Geographic. Her leadership contributed to General Mills becoming the second largest maker of natural and organic branded foods in the US and a planet thought leader in sustainable agriculture.
Carla is working on her first book and recently founded Inspired Tiger, LLC a strategy consulting firm advising consumer food brands and natural product startups. Her previous board service includes: Make-A-Wish America and the Wisconsin School of Business, Center for Brand & Product Management.
Carla has been recognized one of the: Top 25 Women in Retail, Most Influential Women in Corporate America by Savoy Magazine, and Top Five Latinas in America.
Carla is a graduate of Princeton University and The University of Texas, McCombs School of Business where she was a Consortium Fellow. She is member of the Executive Leadership Council and is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
