Bio:
Sheila Gulati is the founder and managing director of Tola Capital. Tola Capital is a private equity firm that focuses exclusively on investments in enterprise software companies, with an emphasis on data-centric, cloud, and mobile software platforms and solutions. Previously, she was the general manager of the application platform and developer marketing group at Microsoft-responsible for all aspects of marketing for Microsoft's application platform and developer technologies. Prior to that she was general manager of developer and platform evangelism in the U.S. and held that same post at Microsoft India, focused on developing a strong software and services ecosystem for the region. She was also at the Microsoft Corporate headquarters in Redmond where she served as worldwide business manager for the server and tools business. Sheila started at Microsoft as part of the corporate development team that managed Microsoft's strategic equity portfolio. Before joining Microsoft, she worked in Silicon Valley at Robertson Stephens as an investment banker for software companies. Sheila was also a web developer at an early age for her family's software company. She is founder of Pratham Seattle, a local chapter of an India-based NGO driving basic literacy programs. Pratham's Read India campaign aims to educate 60 million children by systematically improving the educational system. Sheila holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. She is a 2010 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
