Jeffrey Aronin has decades of experience developing innovative global biotech and health care companies. His keen ability to identify ideas and scientific innovations with the highest potential to change lives and improve the world has made Mr. Aronin one of the most impactful and successful leaders in the life science sector. As an entrepreneur and scientific visionary, Mr. Aronin launched multiple companies, where he advanced science and helped patients. These companies earned a record number of U.S. Food and Drug Administration approvals for rare disease therapies.
After the successful sale of those companies, he founded Paragon Biosciences—a life science innovator that creates, invests in, and builds bioscience companies in synthetic biology, artificial intelligence, gene therapy, and biopharmaceuticals. As chairman and chief executive officer of Paragon Biosciences, Mr. Aronin and his team are focused on creating a biological revolution to solve the most complex human and societal challenges. Paragon’s current portfolio includes Castle Creek Biosciences, Emalex Biosciences, Evozyne, Harmony Biosciences, Qlarity Imaging, Skyline Biosciences, and a consistent flow of incubating companies. Since 2017, Paragon and its partners have invested or committed to invest more than $1 billion in its portfolio companies and expects ongoing investments of up to $500 million annually to address unmet need through life science breakthroughs.
His passion for bringing talented teams of scientists and business executives together to advance science earned him the prestigious Weizmann Leadership Award. Mr. Aronin has received numerous distinctions and life science honors as a most influential leader in health care, most inspirational leader in health care, innovator of the year, and entrepreneur of the year, among others.
Giving back to the life science community, Mr. Aronin founded a health-technology startup incubator –MATTER – one of Chicago’s most remarkable, philanthropic venture-innovation successes, where he serves as co-chairman. He is a member of The Commercial Club of Chicago and serves on several corporate and civic boards including Discover Financial Services and The Aspen Institute. Mr. Aronin serves as a mentor to students and young professionals and is a frequent lecturer at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.
