Title and Organization:
Portia Yarborough is a business manager within DuPont Performance Materials, a division of DuPont USA. Prior to this role, she was the Strategic Planning Manager for DuPont Performance Polymers presiding over business strategy development and long-range planning in tandem with senior business team members. She has held various roles within this science and technology based company including assignments as Business Integration Leader, melding several businesses into a unified Performance Polymers unit, which enabled over 5,000 employees to more effectively address customer needs and Global Business Director, having profit and loss responsibility for the Chloroelastomers business within DuPont Performance Elastomers. Portia joined DuPont in 1998 as a research chemist. She holds several patents and received her certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt for quality management. Portia served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Learning Link of Delaware, a non-profit education-focused organization that develops broad-based initiatives to provide stability to school reform efforts through family and community engagement. She graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from Wake Forest University and earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Cornell University. She is a 2010 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
