Title and Organization:
Kara Medoff Barnett became Executive Director of American Ballet Theatre in February 2016 following over 8 years as a senior executive at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Kara joined Lincoln Center in 2007 as Director of Strategy and Business Development and became the founding Managing Director of Lincoln Center International, drawing on Lincoln Center's 50-year experience operating the world's largest and most vibrant arts center to facilitate artistic exchange and advise leaders worldwide on the planning, design, construction, and management of ambitious cultural infrastructure projects. Kara has produced plays on and off Broadway, including the 2003 Broadway revival of Long Day's Journey Into Night, for which she received a Tony Award. Kara currently serves on the Advisory Committee of the American Theatre Wing, and she is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2014, Kara was named to Crain's New York Business "40 under 40". Kara attended Duke University on a Trinity Scholarship, graduating summa cum laude with her B.A. in English, and went on to receive her MBA from Harvard Business School. She is a 2015 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
