Bio:
Kara Medoff Barnett joined First Republic Bank in Fall 2021 as Head of Social Impact Marketing and Strategy and Managing Director of the First Republic Foundation. She successfully led American Ballet Theatre, America's National Ballet Company, as its Executive Director from 2016-2021, Kara prioritized inclusion and innovation, launching the ABT Women's Movement, ABT RISE, ABT Across America, and overseeing an unprecedented explosion of original content creation for live stages and digital channels. During her tenure, ABT forged strategic partnerships with LG, Bloomberg, First Republic Bank, Duke University, Bank of America, TikTok, and Celebrity Cruises to generate significant revenue and audience growth. Prior to joining ABT, Kara served 8 years as a senior executive at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Kara joined Lincoln Center in 2007 as Director of Strategy and Business Development and became the founding Managing Director of Lincoln Center International, drawing on Lincoln Center's 50-year experience operating the world's largest and most vibrant arts center to convene and advise leaders worldwide engaged in planning, building, and managing ambitious cultural infrastructure projects. Kara has produced plays on and off Broadway, including the 2003 Broadway revival of Long Day's Journey Into Night, for which she received a Tony Award. Kara currently serves on the Alumni Board of Harvard Business School, the Fast Company Impact Council, the ABT Global Council, and the Advisory Committee of the American Theatre Wing. She is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Kara attended Duke University on a Trinity Scholarship and received her MBA from Harvard Business School. She is a 2015 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
