Bio:
Kara Barnett joined First Republic in September 2021. She currently serves as SVP, Marketing and Communications, Head of Communications and Social Impact for First Republic Bank and as Managing Director for the First Republic Foundation. As Executive Director of American Ballet Theatre, America's National Ballet Company, from 2016-2021, Kara prioritized inclusion and innovation. During her tenure, ABT launched the ABT Women's Movement, ABT RISE, and ABT Across America, producing original, diverse, compelling content for live stages and digital channels. New strategic partnerships developed with LG, Bloomberg, First Republic Bank, Duke University, Bank of America, TikTok, and Celebrity Cruises generated significant revenue and audience growth. Prior to joining ABT, Kara served 8 years as a senior executive at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Kara joined Lincoln Center in 2007 as Director of Strategy and Business Development and became the founding Managing Director of Lincoln Center International, drawing on Lincoln Center's 50-year experience operating the world's largest and most vibrant arts center to convene and advise leaders worldwide engaged in planning, building, and managing ambitious cultural infrastructure projects. Kara has produced plays on and off Broadway, including the 2003 Broadway revival of Long Day's Journey Into Night, for which she received a Tony Award. Kara currently serves on the Fast Company Impact Council and the ABT Global Council, and she is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She is a 2015 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute. Kara attended Duke University on a Trinity Scholarship and received her MBA from Harvard Business School.
