Bio:
Dr. Cody Friesen is an Entrepreneur and Materials Scientist. He builds businesses that seek to solve the world’s grandest challenges and he does so while creating teams and cultures that lead with love. Cody is the Founder and CEO of Zero Mass Water now SOURCE Global, PBC, a water technology company, and the Founder of Fluidic Energy, an advanced battery company. He is also the Fulton Engineering Professor of Innovation at Arizona State University and is a Senior Sustainability Scientist at the ASU Global Institute of Sustainability. Cody was named among the "TR35", one of the top 35 innovators in the world under 35 years of age, by MIT’s Technology Review in 2009 and won the Lemelson-MIT Prize for Invention in 2019. He serves on the US Manufacturing Council for the US Department of Commerce, as the co-chair of the Energy subcommittee, and is also a member of the Clinton Global Initiative. Cody has 145 active patent matters worldwide, and 37 granted patents. He earned a BSE in Materials Science and Engineering from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in the same discipline from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a member of the 2015 Class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
