Bio:
Michael became Chief Financial Officer of eMed LLC, digital healthcare technology platform for medical testing, in 2021, and was promoted to the additional role of President in 2022. Prior to that he founded and ran SevenSaoi Capital, a long-only small-cap public equity investment firm. For the majority of his career, Michael was with Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP), a Chicago-based private equity firm that manages $23 billion in equity capital, from 1997 to 2014. A Managing Director on MDP's Telecom, Media & Technology Services team, he led or worked on investments in companies such as XM Satellite Radio Holdings (NASDAQ: XMSR), Alaska Native Wireless (now AT&T), Telemundo Communications Group (now Comcast), Council Tree Hispanic Broadcasters (now Comcast), Reiman Publications, Cbeyond Communications (NASDAQ: CBEY, now Birch Communications), Intelsat (NYSE: I), MetroPCS (NYSE: PCS, now T-Mobile), Univision Communications, Sorenson Communications, The Topps Company, Wind Telecom SpA (now Vimpelcom), and Q9 Networks. Earlier in his career, Michael focused exclusively on the healthcare industry for five years. He was named a “Top 40 Global Dealmaker Under 40” by Dealmaker Magazine and a “Top 40 Under 40” leader by Crain’s Chicago Business. Prior to joining MDP, Michael was with Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. in the investment banking division.
Michael currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the Big Shoulders Fund and The Lyric Opera of Chicago, for which he is also a member of the Investment Committees. Michael is also a 2011 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He holds an A.B. in government, with honors, from Harvard College.
