Title and Organization:
EVP and Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, Target
Bio:
Christina Hennington is executive vice president and chief strategy and growth officer for Target and a member of its leadership team. A forward-thinking enterprise leader, Christina is responsible for ensuring the company’s strategy remains relevant and differentiated as it pursues its next growth horizon, establishing and strengthening relationships with strategic partners, and leveraging the power of technology and generative AI to support every aspect of Target’s business. Christina has held several leadership roles at Target since joining the company in 2003, most recently overseeing all five of the retailer’s merchandising categories and its strategy team. In that position, her teams generated more than $30 billion in growth and developed Target’s new roadmap for growth. Previously, Christina spearheaded a variety of transformative initiatives, including the sale of Target’s pharmacy business to CVS and the creation of an industry-leading partnership with Ulta Beauty. She’s also led teams in beauty, toys, electronics, essentials, merchandising operations, and more. Christina has been a strong champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts as a sponsor for several employee resource groups and a founding member of the Racial Equity Action and Change Committee (REACH) in 2020. In this role, she helps lead Target’s strategy to drive lasting impact for our Black team members, consumers and communities. Christina has been consistently recognized for her leadership and continued focus on diversity, technology and consumer experience. She has been named Merchandiser of the Year and one of the 50 Most Influential People in the Multicultural Market by Women’s Wear Daily, one of the 50 Outstanding Women in Retail by RetailToday, and one of the Most Influential Women in Retail by Mass Market Retailers.
