Michelle has been a venture investor for almost two decades as a Partner at Ignition and a Venture Partner at SoGal, investing in how the next generation works, plays and stays healthy. Michelle invests in early stage technology companies and sits on mid to large cap public boards. Michelle is currently on the board of Legg Mason (NYSE:LM) and is a member of the audit and risk committees. Michelle has a fascination with the drivers of consumer adoption and brings her experience investing in SEO, social media, advertising analytics, and digital commerce to understanding the trends that will next fuel the web. Through her investments in mobile, SaaS, big data and cloud computing, Michelle has deep respect for the technologies that enable the internet to scale and sing. Michelle currently sits on a number of boards of companies in media, digital commerce, Internet of Moving Things (IoMT), and internet advertising Michelle has a passion for building a mentor and peer network of women in technology and finance. She has been an active fundraiser and endowment manager in education and women in tech and launched the Ada Developer Academy’s Loan Fund. Michelle was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in Technology by the Puget Sound Business Journal and was a "40 under 40" Honoree and recently a “40 under 40 AllStar.” Prior to joining Ignition in 2000, she consulted to Microsoft's Developer Division, was an investment banker in mergers and acquisitions at Olympic Capital Partners, a management consultant with A.T. Kearney and a program manager at the China External Trade Development Council (CETRA) in Taiwan. Michelle earned a Master's degree from Harvard, and a Bachelor's degree from Columbia College where she currently sits on the Board of Visitors. She is a 2013 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
