Ulderico (Rick) Calero, Jr. is Head of Banking and Lending at BNY Mellon Wealth Management. He was previously with TIAA where he was responsible for the Empire Segment and the president & CEO of TIAA-CREF Trust Company, FSB (TIAA-FSB). He joined TIAA in 2013 to lead the company’s newest division, TIAA-FSB through product design, customer experience, marketing, and risk management. Previously, Rick had been executive vice president of community banking at Umpqua Financial Holdings leading consumer and small business banking. Earlier in his career, Rick spent 13 years with Citigroup, in leadership roles across multiple banking disciplines in the U.S. and Latin America. He also served as executive vice president and head of consumer banking for Regions Financial Corporation’s market in South Florida. Previously, Rick was a Special Forces qualified Military Intelligence and Infantry officer with the U.S. Army, including service in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. He has lived, worked, and studied in 12 countries. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Fordham University and MBA from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. Rick is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
