Karen Carter Peterson is a member of the Louisiana State Senate, having represented the 5th District since 2010. She is also the current Chairwoman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Karen is the first female to serve as chair of Louisiana's Democratic Party. Since 2008, she has served as Democratic National Committeewoman for Louisiana. Karen previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives. She resides with her family in New Orleans' Warehouse District. Karen is a 2005 Rodel Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
