Sonia Chang-Díaz is the first Latina elected to the Massachusetts State Senate. She chairs the Joint Committee on Education and serves on the Joint Committees on Municipalities and Regional Government and on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities. Prior to attaining elected office, Chang-Díaz was as a public school teacher, an adviser at the Barbara Lee Family Office, and an outreach director at the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center. She earned her B.A. in political & social thought from the University of Virginia.
