Bio:
Emily Cain was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2004 at age 24 and is now the youngest female legislator to lead the minority party in the House as the Democratic Caucus leader. In previous legislative sessions, she served as the House Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs and as Chair of the 2006 Joint Select Committee on Research, Economic Development and the Innovation Economy. Cain also works at the Honors College at the University of Maine and is a frequent performer at community and university events. She holds a B.M.E. in vocal music education from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in higher education from Harvard University. She is currently working towards a Ph.D. in higher education with a concentration in public policy from the University of Maine.
