Jose Alberto Rivera is General Manager at Aceros Arquitectonicos since 2007, a steel construction company started by his grandfather, and continued and grown by his father. Before starting to work in the family business he worked at Kessler (www.kesconsult.com), a solid waste and recycling consulting company in Tampa, Florida where he worked for a year. José Alberto studied Industrial Engineering with a Minor in German at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA. He has contributed to grow the company âAceros Arquitectonicosâ (www.acerosarq.com), which won in 2014 the yearly award named âGalardón de Competividad y Productividad Ricardo Castillo Sinibaldiâ, granted by Intecap among many companies chosen from the different business chambers of the country (https://intecap.edu.gt/galardon/ganadores-del-galardon/). In 2016, he received the award Gerente del Año, in the category of Expansion, on behalf of the âAsociación de Gerentes de Guatemalaâ (www.agg.org.gt), a manager´s association in Guatemala. In 2017, he started to be part of the Board of Directors of âEmpresarios por la Educacionâ, in order to promote better Education and public policy improvements for Children in Guatemala. He is an active promoter of the labor that is done at Asociacion CIE- Método Asensio, a nonprofit hospital specializing in cleft lip and palate surgeries and treatment (http://www.asocie.org/). He has been working for 5 years now, to create a pilot program to create the first Private â" Public Partnership to manage a solid waste disposal site and converted it to a landfill to replicate it around the country and Latin America. This project has become his CALI venture. He received a 1 week intensive solid waste course in Viena Austria named âISWA Study Tour Collection, Sorting & Recyclingâ in April 2016. He currently lives in Antigua Guatemala with his wife Ana Cecilia Asensio and they have been married for 2.5 years.
