Kathia Yacaman is Corporate Marketing and Sales Manager at Grupo Karim’s a multinational corporation with core business in textiles and real estate with operations in Central America, Dominican Republic, Mexico, United States and Pakistan. Before joining Grupo Karim’s, Kathia worked for 10 years in the textile industry holding key positions in company’s like Jockey International Inc. were she headed there western hemisphere sourcing department, and managed all the companies operations from their start up. Since 2010, Kathia heads the Marketing and Sales division for all of Grupo Karim’s companies both in the textile and real estate division including projects like Altia Smart City and Altara Shopping and Life Style Center, projects she helped develop from their start up. She is part of the executive committee and corporate governance for the group. Kathia has been responsible for the attraction of world-renowned BPO and call center companies that have started operations for the first time in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and which are expanding into Tegucigalpa and the rest of the region. She has promoted and placed Honduras as a world wide outsourcing destination, which has generated more than 7000 direct jobs in the country. Kathia was chosen as a delegate from the private sector in a government project in association with the international consulting firm Mckinsey to create a country road map to attract foreign investment to Honduras, Plan Honduras2020. Kathia has been ranked in the top 15 marketing leaders for Honduras and she was also ranked in the top 100 Marketing leaders for Central American and the Caribbean by the magazine Estrategia y Negocios, she has also been ranked in the Who is Who in the region edition of Summa magazine. Kathia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University New Orleans with a double major in International Business and Marketing, and also graduated first from her marketing class receiving the Outstanding Marketing Graduate Award. She then completed her studies in arts and languages in Paris, France. She is an active member of Grupo Karim’s social responsibility programs, and member of the executive committee of Fundacion Grupo Karim’s, which works in three main focus areas: education, health, and environment. One of their main projects in the education area is converting public schools to a bilingual school system. Kathia is working to help expand and incorporate more schools under this project. She is also an active member of Voces Vitales, organization that mentors women. She was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and has been married for 8 years, with 2 children, and has been able to balance work and family life. She enjoys running marathons, and she tries to complete one marathon a year. Kathia is a Fellow of the 12th class of the Central American Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
