Pebbles Parkes is the Program Manager for Africa Leadership Initiative West Africa (ALIWA), and is based in the Ghana office. She previously served as Partnerships and Fundraising Coordinator at Reach for Change (Africa Region) where she worked to expand incubator programs and provide funding and networking opportunities for social entrepreneurs in 6 African countries.
Pebbles is also concurrently the Programme Manager at Databank Foundation where she manages the organization’s five social intervention programs focused on mental health for children, education and developing young leaders. She has prior experience working with non-government organizations such as Enablis Ghana where she was involved in supporting start-ups to develop business plans and also as country coordinator for Trust Africa, Senegal/IDRC, Canada’s Women in Entrepreneurship Conference 2013. She worked for over seven years in banking in UK and in Ghana preceding her transition to roles in development and social work in the not for profit sector. Pebbles’ interests include projects that seek to improve educational outcomes for children, pursuing equal opportunities for vulnerable groups, social entrepreneurship and financial Literacy.
Pebbles earned her degrees in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) Ghana and in International Development from the University of Birmingham.
