Karma Paljor is a storyteller who is passionate about broadcast journalism. As Senior Editor at CNN News18, he specializes in covering aviation and natural disasters. Karma was awarded reporter of the year in 2010 by Indiantelevision.com at the News Television Awards. In 2011, he won the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism in the category for Business and Economic Journalism. Karma also received the Ramnath Goenka award was for an in depth 30 minutes show on Air India titled ‘Who Killed the Maharaja.’ Karma was part of the CNN News18 team which won the award for Best National News Coverage in English at the exchange4media News Broadcasting Awards (ENBA) for their coverage of the devastating Uttarakhand floods in 2013. In 2014, Karma won the ENBA Award in the Best Spot News Reporting (English) category for his coverage of the 'Cyclone Phailin' in Orissa. The same coverage also won him the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for on the spot reporting the same year. Karma started his career with the Times of India in Mumbai, and he moved to CNBC TV18 in 2001 and to CNN IBN in 2005 as a founding employee. Karma is a graduate from the Bangalore University, and holds a postgraduate diploma from the Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai. He is a Fellow of the sixth class of the Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
