Jeni Britton Bauer is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, a multi-channel retailer, employing 800+ with 25 company-owned scoop shops, a robust e-commerce presence, and distribution in top groceries across the country. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is a Certified B Corporation endorsed by the international nonprofit B Lab as a company that meets rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Using Direct Trade and Fair Trade ingredients, employing a diverse team of people, and working with women- and minority-owned businesses are all part of how Jeni’s operates, and an important part of their company culture. Jeni supports agricultural entrepreneurs and has built a special community, focused on an ahead-of-trend vision, including using whole ingredients and dairy from grass-pastured cows, rather than synthetic flavorings and commodity mixes. Jeni published her first book in 2011, New York Times bestseller Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream at Home, which earned a 2012 James Beard Award. In 2014, she published Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream Desserts. Jeni has been a board member of The Wexner Center for the Arts since 2011, and has served on the board of trustees for Columbus College of Art & Design since 2012. She also devotes time to Local Matters, a fresh-food-for-all Columbus, OH based nonprofit she co-founded in 2008. Jeni briefly attended Ohio State University, studying art and art history. In August 2016, Jeni was presented with an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree from OSU. She is a member of the 2017 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute.
