Bio:
Chris Eide is the National Director of State Policy, Advocacy and Partnerships and the Acting Executive Director for Teach Plus California. Prior to this, Chris was founder and executive director of Teachers United. Chris has been a classroom teacher in high-poverty traditional and charter schools in Houston, New York City, and Seattle. Aside from teaching, he has also done national research on charter and transformation schools, lectured and produced workshops on mathematics instruction for English Language Learners, and observed schools and instruction in over 20 countries. He is a member of the inaugural Aspen Institute Teacher Leader Fellowship, a Teach For America alumnus, and Teacher of the Year finalist in Houston ISD. Chris also holds a variety of leadership roles including executive committee member of the British-American Project, and the steering committees of Democrats For Education Reform-Washington and the Excellent Schools Now coalition. Chris holds a B.S. in chemistry and a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Washington and an Ed.M. in education policy and management from Harvard University.
