																												Lawal Mohammed Marafa  is a professor at the Department of Geography and Resource Management, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Science degree in Agriculture, Postgraduate Diploma in Land Resources Planning and a Ph.D. in Geography. In recognition of his commitment to pedagogy and excellent knowledge delivery, Lawal was awarded the coveted “Exemplary Teacher Award” for outstanding teaching performance at the Faculty of Social Science, Chinese University of Hong Kong for 2005. Lawal has been a visiting Professor at the University of Waterloo, Canada and has undertaken scholarly visits to the Sun Yat Sen University, Guanzhou, East China Normal University, Shanghai, Beijing Forestry University, China, etc. Currently, he is actively involved in teaching and research and has undertaken a number of consultancy projects and published over 40 manuscripts in academic and various media. In addition, he has attended and presented papers at numerous international conferences. Lawal’s academic interests are in tourism & environment, tourism policy, planning, product development, ecotourism, sustainable development & millennium development goals as well as addition to knowledge sharing & management for development. He has regional interests in Africa, China and Eastern European countries, particularly Russia. Dr. Marafa is fluent in Russian Language and speaks basic French.
