Bio:
An award-winning preacher, Kippie is a leader for positive change in the faith community. A native of Lake City South Carolina, he is a dedicated servant leader who found his passion in the ministry after a tumultuous youth. Kippie's mission is to advance and transform traditions to meet the needs of the 21st century Christian. He provides leadership at both the local and state levels within his denomination and is known as an advocate who connects resources to the disadvantaged and at-risk individuals. After being called to serve as Senior Pastor and Teacher of Springfield Baptist Church in 2012, Kippie recognized this historic African-American church was stuck in the past, isolating itself from the community. Kippie is leading a new era there, building connectivity and an environment of inclusion within this church, including a controversial policy change to accept LGBTs as church members. He leads his congregation by example, including serving as a Greenville Health System Chaplain Resident, providing pastoral care to patients and families in an acute care setting, and as a member of the Board for the Urban League of the Upstate. Brown received a BA in Pastoral Ministry, cum laude, from Morris College and a Master of Divinity, Pastoral Care & Counseling from Interdenominational Theological Seminary. He is a Fellow of the 2018 Class of Liberty Fellowship and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
