Title and Organization:
Author of several books, professional musician, composer, and lecturer, David is passionate about finding a role for artists in the new economy and the importance of the arts in communities. While his initial work at the University of South Carolina was to develop the nation's first music entrepreneurship minor, he expanded this reach beyond undergraduate musicians with a national workshop he created that has drawn artists from 36 states and 7 countries to Columbia to learn about music entrepreneurship and value creation. He also has created a conference which brought the national association of college music professors to Columbia to reinvent the future of their profession. Cutler received a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Piano Performance from the University of Miami, a Master of Music in Jazz Composition and Arranging from the Eastman School of Music, and a Doctorate in Music Composition from Indiana University School of Music. He is a Fellow of the 2018 Class of Liberty Fellowship and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
