Elected continuously since 2009 as Solicitor prosecuting more than 3,000 criminal cases annually in Aiken, Bamberg, and Barnwell counties, Strom made his name first as the youngest ever United States Attorney when appointed to this position for the District of South Carolina by President George Bush in 2001. In this role, he implemented a nationally recognized gun violence reduction initiative and model for port security and also served as trial counsel in the first federal death penalty prosecution in South Carolina. While in private practice, he served on several non-profit boards and organizations in Aiken, was Director of Southern Bank & Trust and was appointed to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Advisory Board by Governor Sanford. Strom holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of South Carolina and Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is a Fellow of the 2018 Class of Liberty Fellowship and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
